The primary advantage of Hi-Fi systems compared to rest of the high quality audio systems is that it provides you the flexibility of including the features that you want. In Hi-Fi solution you develop every individual unit to have its own task to provide you excellent results.

Here, we will look at few of the important things you will need to create your own Hi-Fi system ranging from amplifier to speakers.

Creating a Fabulous Hi-Fi System Setup for Your Home and focused on the 3 Components that will help you Rock!

The Amplifier | Speakers | Speaker Wire

The Amplifier

If you have decided to use passive speakers then a good amplifier will be required for powering them. Here, you will have to decide whether to opt for integrated amplifier or a stereo receiver. A stereo receiver functions to receive broadcast signals and has a radio tuner built into it as well.

On the other hand, integrated amplifier will have smaller size and a clean design. This should be your choice if you are not looking for the tuner feature that a receiver has.

Speakers

There are different types of speakers that you can select from such as passive, active, floor standing, and bookshelf.

Bookshelf Type Speakers

Bookshelf type speakers are compact you can easily place them in the room. Having 2 to 3 drivers, these speakers provide excellent sound quality. However, they lack in bass production compared to floor standing speakers. But this problem can be mitigated by adding external sub-woofer.

Floor Standing Speakers

Floor standing speakers produce richer and fuller audio compared to other speakers. If you purchase the right floor standing speakers then a sub-woofer will not be necessary.

Good quality floor standing speakers generally have three drivers, which result in clear treble and mid-range. However, their size can be a problem if you do not have enough space in a room.

Active Speakers

The above two types of speakers make use of external power and as such are considered passive speakers. On the other hand, active speakers have amplifiers build into them, resulting in considerable saving of space.

For instance, you can directly plug in CD players into these speakers and online services such as Spotify can connect wirelessly without requiring dongles. However, these are less flexible since if you do not like how speaker is making sound, you cannot replace anything and there will be no option but to change the entire setup.

Speaker Wire

Passive speakers require wire. Simple twelve-gauge copper wires of multi-strand tend to do well for these speakers. But if there are plans to run a high powered system and length is required to be longer than fifty foot then it will be better to purchase heavier wire.
